First let me start with my core belief....I believe in all paths to health and healing. There is a place for both Eastern and Western medicine in our world.  There will be times when a surgery or antibiotic is needed - be thankful that they exist. At a certain point in the healing process holistic practices can shine through as they assist the body in it's natural bid to heal - again be thankful they exist. Let's not limit ourselves to just one medical model....merge them - integrate them - and watch the body thrive!

 

For many years I was a "Seasonal Specialist" (coined by my husband), meaning that I was dabbling in several areas depending upon the season. The one constant for me was my interest in health and wellness.  I spent a few years working with Drs in several different areas.  This is when I began having an inner conflict with the way western medicine was being practiced. I found a need to explore and understand the holistic world and that's when my education process began.

 

After I completed my Massage education I was invited into Judy O'Neill's practice Medical Massage Associates of CNY. Very quickly I realized that the holistic field was vast and I would probably be in school in some form or another for the rest of my life. I had been at Medical Massage a short time, when Judy and I began exploring the world of Energy Medicine.  Polarity Therapy was a way for us to integrate all the techniques and modalities that we had aquired with a beautiful overlay of energy.  We loved Dr. Stone's Wireless Anatomy and his connection to Ayurveda (another great passion of mine). 

 

Polarity Therapy covers all areas of health and healing:  We address structural/muscular issues, movement through Yoga and Energy Exercises, lifestyle and nutritional education held together with an Elemental based energy system.  We found a complete package.  With the right food, exercise, water and energy....we don't have to suffer with pain and illness.  

 

At a certain point in our career we both decided that we really needed to share this information with others. We forged ahead and became Registered Polarity Educators (RPE). The Polarity Center of Syracuse's, Associate Polarity Practitioner (APP) program, is an APTA approved certificaiton program. Our community needed this healing gift - that's when we opened our schools and we began to teach Dr. Stone's work. So far we haven't looked back. Judy and I each have our own schools and generally co-teach our programs. Classes are held at our Stone Totem Yoga Studio

 

Over the years I have had my own health issues (we all do) - I was blessed (yes blessed) with the gift of Colorectal Cancer.  Having Cancer gave me the oportunity to grow and test my beloved Polarity.  It showed me the importance for true integration of Eastern and Western Philosophys.  I can say without a doubt that I needed all the  medical models to save my life.  Polarity Therapy and Ayurveda have been my one constant.  

 

I have been continuing my Ayurvedic education at Amrit Yoga Institue. In November 2016 I graduated and completed my studies at Greens Ayurveda in India.  I am now a Ayurvedic Practitioner and along with my husband, Brian, we will be offering a truly integrative practice at our studio.  Honestly I'm an education junky....hope to see you in one of our classes.  Within the next year we plan to have full Panchakarma programs up and running.
